Nicolas Belfrage: Deepish, ruby rim. Nose quiet. Ripe sweet fruit on the attack, opening up to a well-balanced, firm-acid, tight-tannin wine of considerable depth of flavor, capable of growing into something very important. Drink from 2017. 17

Bruno Besa: Deep garnet to pink rim. Open, spicy nose, with prunes, cedarwood, smoked red meat, and hints of rosemary and toasted hazelnuts. Medium to full body, layered palate, with firm tannins, clean black fruit, and a long, inviting finish. A great effort and totally enjoyable at present. 18

Andrew Jefford: Dense, dark black-red. A rather oak-freighted nose. Concentrated and oaky on the palate, with impressive levels of palate-coating black fruit and admirable tannic backing. Lavish, generous Brunello, and presumably the oak will quieten down after a while. As so often, the tannins add gravity and sobriety. 16
