Nicolas Belfrage: Attractive ruby/garnet. Subtle but attractive nose, leading you into the wine. Creamy texture, with firm but ripe tannins, side-to-side acidity and lots of fruit. Again, the wine is drinking now but will last. Power and elegance—what Brunello ought to be about. Whether of modern or traditional style is not important, this is good wine. 17

Stephen Brook: Subdued cherry nose. Quite rich, romps along, with plenty of juicy fruit and ripe underlying tannins. Not much subtlety or finesse here, but a vivacious mouthful of fruit, sustained by good acidity. There’s some persistence but not much depth, so this is a relatively simple but enjoyable wine. 15

Andrew Jefford: Mid-depth of black-red. Leafy, complex, and refined, just beginning to trigger that cascade of natural allusions that makes Brunello at its best such a compelling wine. Very harmonious and seamless aromatically, to an almost disarming extent; it would be easy to assume this wine is simpler than it in fact is. Intense and dramatic at its core, yet that core is robed with a fruit fabric of great attractiveness. A wide, accessible palate-opening that quickly tightens and tautens to a knotty, grippy, bitter-edged yet rewarding finish. Not quite the overall articulacy or grace of the very best, but this is a serious mid-term bottle that would have much to offer the Brunello enthusiast. 15
