Nicolas Belfrage: Medium-deep with marked oranging on rim. Classic tar-and-rose nose, a little chemical in a positive way. Plenty of sweet ripe fruit in mouth, firm tannins, and sappy acidity. Quite well balanced, with reasonable length. Drink 2012+ - 16.5
Stephen Brook: Very deep brick red. Lush nose, with a distinct warmth—not in the sense of alcoholic burn but like a mud wall on a hot day. Perhaps a bit cooked, like stewed plums. Plump, rounded, juicy, forward—this has immediate appeal, but the tannin and acidity on the mid-palate give it some vibrancy. But it’s surprisingly accessible for 2006, and the acidic tang on the finish makes it moreish. I don’t find much complexity or depth here, but it’s undeniably attractive. Quite good length - 15
Jancis Robinson: Dark brownish. Mellow, very ripe nose, with some suggestion of candy (quite unusual for a Barolo!). Masses of opulent fruit and then refreshing finish. Very fine tannin management, though the tannins dominate on the finish. Lots of skillful winemaking here. Long, clean finish. Drink 2014–22 - 17
