Nicolas Belfrage: Medium depth, bright. Spicy and herbal, savory on the nose rather than fruity. Packed with tannins on the palate, the acidity somewhat uppish, this wine is aimed at the long-aging category. Its diversity of aromas and flavors suggest that it will be worth waiting for. 96
Stephen Brook: Deep red. Very ripe yet delicate red-fruits nose, has purity and elegance. Sleek attack, concentrated, with bold ripe tannins to give it grip and force. Spicy and vigorous, with a good dose of alcohol, the palate is less subtle and refined than the nose, but it has admirable energy and drive. A fruit-infused style, dramatic and rewarding. 92
Andrew Jefford: Deep but clear black-red. Sweet and charming, with sugar-drizzled currants but also a smoky darkness to it, too: not just a charmer. On the palate, the acidity has the upper hand over extract and depth, leading to a rather soprano style, but the acidity is wonderfully dense and fruit-saturated, so we are not complaining; it’s a question of style choice. Berries apotheosized— and then the oak copse behind. Lovely, bright-eyed Brunello, tart and dry to finish. 89
