Nicolas Belfrage: Deep. Almost opaque. Plum and Christmas cake on the nose. One of the riper styles of the vintage, with generous, sweet fruit cut by good acid and ok tannins. Good drinking now, not sure about the future. 15.5
Bruno Besa: Deep garnet to tawny rim. Touch-closed yet clean, mature, with layered small fruits and quite intense herbal undertones. Medium body, with clean, sweet fruit and lively, mature finish. Very well made but, again, a touch simple. 15.5
Andrew Jefford: Deep black-red. Lots of sweet cereal grain here; almost a barley-sugar sweetness, indeed. Soft, light, tangy, sweet. Okay, it’s ripe, but there is none of the profound fruited grandeur that Brunello should bring. A simple wine. 11.5
