Bruno Besa: Garnet to tawny. Open, earthy, cedar-wood and prunes nose, spicy with tobacco, leather, mushrooms, and truffles. Balanced, rich, and complex, a little developed yet clean on the palate. Long, earthy finish. 92
Andrew Jefford: Pale, translucent red-black. Dry, tarry, with some reduction; amply aromatic, but lacks finesse. Compensates with incense: young oak here? Dense, full, complex, and showy—a huge amount going on here. Dense, chewy, long, empyreumatic, and incense-laden. A bit of a boil, to be honest, though it will leave no one unmoved and time may pull it all into focus. 87
Michael Palij: Pronounced nose, with earthy, gamey, vegetal notes, including hay, cut grass, licorice, chocolate, modeling clay, and forest floor. Although the nose is atypical, the finish is incredibly impressive, as the fruit unfurls across the palate and effortlessly keeps the tannins in check. This will develop for many years based on the high levels of both tannins and acidity. A simply stunning example of Nebbiolo. 97
