Nicolas Belfrage: Medium red with considerable turn. The nose of aging Sangiovese, slightly farmyardy but none the worse for that. Elegant rather than powerful on the palate—deceptive because you think it “old style” (which it is) and blame the wine for that (which you shouldn’t). It’s actually delicious to drink now and will remain so for a good few years. 90

Bruno Besa: Light garnet to tawny rim. Salty, super-elegant nose, with red stone-fruits, rose water, dried herbs, and dried almonds. Medium body, inviting and restrained, with clean small red fruits and a long, mineral finish. Textbook Sangiovese. 96

Andrew Jefford: Translucent deep garnet red. Some very sweet spices from the wood, and relatively simple, almost tinned-fruit, scents beneath that. Not our most complex aromatic profile today. On the palate, this has fair concentration and energy, ample ripeness, and better complexity and finesse to the fruit flavors than the aromas suggested. An enjoyable, juicy Brunello. 83
