Nicolas Belfrage: Medium color with beginnings of turn on the rim. A bit quiet on the nose, not coming through at first, then aromas of black cherry and wax. Firm structure and plenty of fruit, good balance but needing time to come together; the wine features medicinal notes on the finish, which is of medium length. Check again in 2017. 87
Bruno Besa: Garnet to tawny, pink. Layered, clear, mineral nose, with complex red- and black-fruit character and rosemary and sage. Balanced, full-bodied palate, with complex fruit and a ripe finish. A very good wine from a hot vintage. 92
Andrew Jefford: Deep, dark black-red, though not opaque.
Andrew Jefford: Ah, so Tuscan to smell: the oak copse, the dry leaves, the scents of humus and fungus, of licorice and leather—a very attractive aromatic profile. Full, poised, balanced, and elegant on the palate, but with generosity, too, and a sweet finish. Generous tannins; all the Brunelline typicality you could want. This is a fine benchmark wine for the vintage, I feel, and will provide wonderful drinking from now and for a decade. 90
