Andrew Jefford: Medium-deep with the beginnings of evolution on the rim. Mature, somewhat pungent aromas of pâté and garlic. Pruney fruit comes through afterward—complex and interesting. Quite acidic on the entry, this impression remaining throughout. Tannins are generally on the soft side, no bitter kick, ripe and just a touch grainy. Complex flavors on the finish, which is of some length: dried fruit and something meaty. Drinking soon, not sure of its longevity, but this is an interesting wine of a warm year. 88
Bruno Besa: Deep garnet to tawny. Intense, clean, broad, mineral nose with small black fruit, dried spices, smoked red meat, and lavender. Rich, fullbodied palate, a touch overripe fruit, but long and approachable. 90
Andrew Jefford: Deep, clear black-red. Warm red fruits: cherry, strawberry, redcurrant. Sweetly attractive, and a clear emphasis on primary fruit by comparison with many of its peers. Soft, vivid, fresh, energetic, open-pored and—as the nose suggested—deeply fruity Brunello... But we are here on the great Tuscan hill, so the fruit is far from simple, and there’s an agreeable point of asperity in the finish. Delicious and for relatively early drinking. 84
