Stephen Brook: Rather odd nose, with an unexpected herbaceous, earthy element—though it’s not unpleasant. Fairly rich, but there’s a coarseness here. Direct, up-front, and spicy; it lacks the purity and finesse of the best examples. Moderate concentration and length, giving a slack finish. 13

Margaret Rand: Syrupy fruit, a touch of coffee, great concentration and length. Sort of rhubarb and coffee. And the flavor just goes on and on. It’s very well balanced and has finesse as well as intensity. A wine of character. 17

Jancis Robinson: Nutty, creamy nose, and lovely creamy texture. Not one of the sweetest Beerenauslesen but nicely put together. Like an apple cream. Very fresh and revitalizing. Already almost approachable. Not the sweetest of this collection. Drink 2010–20. 18
