Stephen Brook: Tight nose, inexpressive now but no blowsiness. Medium-bodied, slack, flat and earthbound, has light acidity but it fails to lift the wine, which lacks grip and finesse. Quite good length. 13
Andrew Jefford: Mid-green-gold. Some welcome sense of freshness and leafiness. Good balance, with lively fruits more than a match for the year’s generous sweetness. Fair to good intensity, and some nutty complexities, too, with a hint of minerals in the finish. Yet the aftertaste reinforces the impression of a slight intrinsic heaviness and weightiness in the grain of the fruit; the spellbinding grace and balance that keep all of Germany’s greatest wines powering down the decades just aren’t here. 15.5
Jancis Robinson: Some lily fragrance on the nose. A bit hot and coarse. Not a happy whole. Not especially sweet, either, and certainly I can’t see any botrytis influence. Drink 2009-14. 14.5
