Bruno Besa: Garnet to tawny. Clean, intense, mineral, and refined nose, with sour cherries, leather, tobacco, rose water, violets, and earthy undertones. Medium body, with a lean, floral, mid-palate, just a little simplistic on the finish. 90
Andrew Jefford: Bright, clear, light, and translucent. Fragrant and graceful—very Verduno! Calfskin and vellum—the old monastery library on a warm summer’s day. Name of the rose (more than the rose). Lovely. Refined, elegant, poised, aromatically resonant right the way through the palate, all of the grace and poise you expect from this commune once again. Fully and beautifully aged, and already very “Burgundian” on the tongue, chiffon fruits melting away into an aromatic mist. 10/10 for subregional expression, and a lovely wine as it stands. 92
Michael Palij: Wonderful nose—a real hit of Nebbiolo complexity, with red currant, strawberry, raspberry, pomegranate, and red plum allied to back fruit including plum, damson, and mulberry. The balance on the palate is exemplary, with layers of red and black fruit, tannins, finely etched acidity. The finish is endless, and this exquisite wine confirms Nebbiolo’s ability to excel in a myriad of different vintage conditions. 97
