Stephen Brook | The red-fruited nose is lean but poised, with charm and delicacy. This is somewhat light for Brunello, lacking some flesh and density, but there is an attractive intensity of fruit. It’s balanced and fresh but underwhelming, more like a good Rosso, but it may put on more weight with aging. What it lacks is structure and grip. Quite long. | 87
Andrew Jefford | Dark, clear garnet-red. Sweet, warm, slightly dry fruits. Forthcoming, but some of its peers have more complex, layered aromas than this insistent, steady profile. Vivid and fresh: very true to its year. Pure, long, dry, elegant, with ample cascading acidity doing a little more structuring work than the understated tannins. Excellent wine, which would win a still higher mark if it had a slightly more nuanced aromatic profile—though I am aware that this is carping. If you’re looking for freshness and poise and balance, this has it in plenty. | 90
Michael Palij | Richly fruited, with damson, blackcurrant, blackberry, wet stone, vanilla, cedar, and clove on the nose. In the mouth, coffee, toasted coconut, and black cherry make an appearance though the tannins take center stage. The fruit in this wine is concentrated and layered with the oak, but the latter steals the show, leaving the mouth dry and astringent. Just misses the mark—back off the oak, and this would be a show-stopper. | 93
