Stephen Brook | Firm and somewhat earthy cherry aromas mark the nose, which is inexpressive at the moment. Sleek and intense, it shows good acidity on the palate, which is linear and direct rather than nuanced. It’s quite angular and lacks some flesh and texture. A leaner style that is one-dimensional now. Quite long. | 87
Andrew Jefford | Clear deep red. Warm, soft, gentle, curranty yet woodland fresh, too; wonderful to be able to rely on your vineyard to display aromatic genes of this order. Less focus than many but very satisfying. There are vegetal notes but the right sort: scented forest plants. Soft, sweet, mellow, low-acidity, rich, and succulent: toothsome Brunello of easy appeal, but there is plenty of depth and drive to keep you coming back. | 88
Michael Palij | Slightly corked and no second bottle, but this shows sour cherries, garrigue, hawthorn, wet stone, menthol, and camphor. The palate is slightly attenuated due to the TCA, but there is cherry, plum, leather, and licorice. The length is medium, and the balance between tannins and fruit is good, but it’s difficult to get the measure of this just at the moment. | 91
