Bruno Besa | Lively ruby to pink. Intense, mineral small red fruits nose with mediterranean herbs, challk, rose water and violets. Medium to full body, with sweet, layered red fruit, and long, mineral finish. | 93
Andrew Jefford | Clear mid-garnet. Silky, fresh, and lifted aromas: very enticing. Sweet and warm: currants, pomegranate, mulberry, all sugar-dusted; some calfskin and dried mushroom behind. There’s real aromatic complexity here, and great appeal. Dry-straw sweetness as you swirl joins the sugar-dusted sweetness that surges out at first. Light-footed, graceful, lifted, yet amply textured, with beautifully managed soft tannins, this is an outstanding wine in the context of the tasting: balanced and harmonious, conveying a sense of tempered generosity, and with admirable aromatic finesse. It says something about the vintage and its potential longevity that these aromas are more clearly palpable on nose than in the mouth; there isn’t, in other words, a huge amount of evolutionary mileage ahead. An excellent 2015, though one crafted in the soprano style rather than the full-bodied style. | 92
Michael Palij | Pronounced nose with the beguiling Serralunga combo of black fruit (olive, plum, berry) and the Nebbiolo hallmark of fig, prune, rose, and licorice. On the palate, this demonstrates authority of the tannins with ripe red and black fruit to support. | 92
