Simon Field: Ripe, forthright, spirity, and welcoming; an engaging example, its fruit from across the spectrum, le rouge et le noir, the tannins ripe and friendly for one so young; a good-natured and well-judged Vintage Port for the medium term. Just a little hard on the finish. | 89
Andrew Jefford: Saturated deep black-purple-red, with colored trailing glints on the sides of the glass. Fresh, sweet blackcurrant wealth in perfect singing primary form is what comes leaping from the glass: very seductive and attractive. (Just a faint yogurt note pulls the aromatic assessment back a bit.) Some fresh grassy notes, too, to add lift and poise. Soft and voluptuous on the palate, with warm but not hot red and black fruits; deft, dense and full, though less explosive and “big” than [Poças 2015]. That may be to its benefit for drinkers who prefer the creamy and seductive style. | 91
Richard Mayson: Deep color, tight-knit berry fruit, the heat of the vintage just showing through on the nose, closing in on itself; full, rather raisiny fruit, intensely rich with round, ripe tannins leading to a firm finish. Not showing as much finesse as some at this stage; a little foursquare. | 88
