Simon Field: The wine has a lovely, ethereal lift, graceful and pleasing; red and black fruit are evidenced, then soft spice and orchard fruits; the wine is already very complete, civilized, and incredibly harmonious for one so young. Finely tailored garments, flattering beyond deception, with crystalline definition and a tapered peacock finish. One to watch. | 93
Andrew Jefford: Dark black-red, though with less saturation than some of its peers. Fresh, spicy black fruits dominate the aromas in this well-composed aromatic profile, though one that is slightly quieter and less assertive than for other 2016s. Ample, deep, structured, long, clean, and clearly defined fruits: What’s not to like? Nothing! A perfect example of what a great vintage this is, though it is not the most showy or most thrusting wine on the table. Quiet grandeur and authority, in sum. | 92
Richard Mayson: Deep and opaque; restrained on the nose with underlying, suave, seamless berry fruit, already showing poise and finesse; dense, tight- knit on the palate, not revealing much as yet other than solid, ripe tannins and a powerful, dusty finish. The fruit is here but is wrapped in tannin and needs time to emerge. For the long haul. | 95
