Simon Field: A slightly dull color, then aromatics that are undecided at best; flat, if one is being harsh. The palate is mildly redemptive, its undertow shard of acidity underwriting the ensemble with confidence and quiet charm. There is confident mid-palate fruit, dark and yet fresh, balanced tannins, and a modestly cleansing finish. | 89
Andrew Jefford: Deep, dark, black-red, clear and promising, with nothing senescent in the color. Very attractive aromas in meaty guise, with some blackcurrant and some tea leaf, too; sweet yet plush and upholstered, harmonious, enticing. Deep, warm, round, and, if anything, rather more masterful than the aromas suggested, with a big roar of roast-plum and blackberry fruit. Delicious now and mature in a conventional sense. | 90
Richard Mayson: Mid-deep youthful center, just turning on the rim; open, ripe berry fruit on the nose, fragrant and a touch lifted; lovely, rich, plummy flavors, ripe and fleshy, wrapped by full, spicy tannins which linger on the finish. Lovely definition and purity overall. Drink now and over the next 30 years. | 93
