Bruno Besa | Light ruby to tawny rim. Open, elegant, refined, herbal nose, with wild strawberries, bing cherries, rosewater, violets, crushed stone, and hints of tobacco leaf and oriental spices. Medium body, with a layered red-fruits palate. Refined tannins and clean red fruits give way to a long, classically crafted finish. A classic expression of the vintage, for medium-term aging. | 94
Andrew Jefford | Clear, deep garnet red. Sweet, soft, and warm, mellow and enticing: another wine without any sense of the difficulties of the year weighing on it. Gentle red fruits, with a soft, peppery warmth and a creamy liaison, too. Lively, fresh, and sinewy on the palate, with ample depths, though no great complexities. Wholly enjoyable within the vintage context, nonetheless. | 88
Michael Palij | The modern Brunello formula is alive and well here, with ripe Sangiovese allied to too much oak. Red cherry and cranberry are almost buried in an onslaught of vanilla, spice, and licorice. The finish shows a lingering astringency, by which time the oak strips away much of the pleasure in this wine. It’s not without fruit, but it’s a job to find it. | 85
