BUY THE WINE

Bruno Besa | Ruby to garnet. Open nose, with evident oak, smoke, prunes, black cherries, and some earthy complexity. Mature, sweet, red- and black-fruit palate. Clean, yet a touch short and green on the finish. | 90

Andrew Jefford | Deep translucent garnet-red, with a suggestion of russet beginning to creep in. High-toned aromas; a touch volatile? There’s a faintly grassy or kerosene-like note here, too, though this is all very subtle and understated. Nonetheless, overall the aromas are not wildly enticing. Lively and soundly constituted on the palate, with concentration and drive; taut and tight on the finish. With a finer aromatic profile, this wine would have won a higher score. | 87

Michael Palij | Very powerful nose, with stewed black fruit, caramel, co ee, and sweet spice. Alcohol seems to dominate and the finish shows dusty tannins and chalky acidity. There is some fruit here, but the wine is exceptionally ripe (how did that happen in 2014?) and has more than its fair share of oak. | 84
