Michael Schuster | The second wine of Clos du Marquis (first vintage 2015). Ripe red-fruit and mineral nose; medium-full, supple (all that Merlot!) to fresh in impression, very finely tannic, a nice, easy balance; elegant, suave-textured, nice length of flavor, lightly aromatic, lovely fragrant aftertaste. Fine lesser claret which will be delicious early on. Cellar master Bruno Rolland observed, “If you put one third of this La Petite Marquise into the Clos du Marquis, you will have the old Clos du Marquis blend.” The latter now has a noticeably higher (and therefore classier) proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon. 2022–30+. 89–90
