BUY THE WINE

Nicolas Belfrage: Unusually deep colour. Cherry and berry m ingle in an expressive nose. Deep fruit and fine structure in a wine perhaps more international than Tuscan but very well made for all that. 16

Stephen Brook: Very deep red. Sweet, lush, oaky nose tha t seems to have a dollop of Cabernet. Very rich, voluptuous and very co nce n trate d, with pow erful tannins. A heavyweight, but it doesn’t lack elegance. Plums and chocolate. A long, chewy finish. 19

Alison Buchanan: Dark core, with a plum and cherry rim. Very nicely textured. Hot earth, spice and mineral character on the nose, though not immediately attractive. The palate is supple, ripe and seductive, with toasted-cake and coffee notes com plem enting black and red fruits, spices and som e perfumed character. Dried violets appear towards the end of the palate. Good. 17.5
