Andrew Jefford: Super-pale, water-gold. Fresh, light and lively; a touch of pear, vanilla and hop - all nuance and fragrant stealth. Perhaps, finally, a bit herbaceous, though how this is possible in 2003 I really don’t know... Oddly confected here, with rather hard acidity yoked to a sense of almost confectionary tang. The vintage unmastered. 10.5
Simon Larkin : Flue almost identical to Burklin-Wolf’s Kalkofen. The aromas, however, are fresh, with ripe apple and green lime coming to the fore. The palate shows a real intensity of similar fruit characters, real peel-like bite, almost aggressive in its own way. Certainly the acid sensation is that of cooking-apple peel. Reasonably well focused, with a marked vibrancy from start to finish. Overly vibrant; almost shrill for this taster. 13
Alexander Scott: Notably paler. A touch of reduction at first. More of a high-toned, blackcurrant-leaf aspect. Correspondingly fresh palate after Dr. Burklin -Wolf’s Kalkofen. Moderate development and length. 14.5
