Simon Field: Rich in colour, this wine has an intriguing, slightly lean element to the bouquet. Behind this, there is a wealth of black fruit and leather, while on the palate the wine is tight, suitably tannic and impressively built for the longer term. 17
Andrew Jefford: A very deep, dense black-red wine. Lovely, lifted, sweet-fruit fragrance here, elegant and enchanting: all the fulsome glory of a really ripe vintage tuned to aromatic account. This bodes well. Full, dense, deep; plenty of tannic force lashed to lush yet vivid bright blackcurrant fruits. The tannins are less driving and biting than some of its peers, suggesting a more rapid evolution, yet it is hard to fault this sumptuous and superbly balanced wine. Surely the balance will hold everything in place as the years slip away... 18.5
Richard Mayson: Good deep colour, thin crimson rim. Tight, closed and dense. Rich, smooth and suave initially, with the tannins rising in the mouth. Big and bold, ripe and spicy, but it tails off a little on the finish. 16.5
