Simon Field: Youthful colour, distinctive and exceptionally attractive aromatic nose of roses and tea. A layered and eloquent young wine with a purity of expression that is supported by firm acidity and a weight of red-berried fruit. Delicate and feminine, with damsons and cherries on the finish. Atypical, but not unattractive for that. 17.5
Andrew Jefford: Still faintly opaque red-black. Sweet, warm, curranty. Very pure, seductive and refined. Close-textured, dense, lots of tannic power here, enticingly lashed to vivid and still fresh blackcurrant fruit. This is more like it, after [having tasted] a range of almost-but-not-quite-thrilling '94s! Excellent and reverberant Vintage Port of real density, succulence and power. 17
Richard Mayson: Deep, opaque youthful colour, thin purple rim. Attractive, dense and quite opulent aromas, with plenty to give. Good, firm, tight, bitter-chocolate tannins. Firm and peppery, with spicy length. A good middle-to long-distance wine. Drink 2015 plus. 15.5
