Simon Field: Youthful notes of deep purple. A nose that is slightly reticent, then on the palate an unrelenting and rather obtrusive sweetness that somewhat undermines the structural integrity and disinclines the taster from extravagantly favourable predictions. 13
Andrew Jefford: One of the darkest yet, though with medium glycerol. Glorious aromas here: a thrilling repertoire that encompasses dark fruits, pepper, fire, raw meat - a sort of Homeric odyssey in a glass. Provocative and satisfying at the same time - you cannot ask for more. There Is lots of exuberance here: open, articulate, full-flavoured, vivid and hugely enjoyable Vintage Port at this stage, though perhaps it doesn't have the fruit core and freshness for ultimate longevity. 16.5
Richard Mayson: Good deep colour, thin purple rim. Closed but scented aromas with elegance and charm. It tastes complete: firm, fine fruit and firm, ripe tannins with breadth and length. This has a future. I like it. 16.5
