Jesús Barquín:Reddish brown amber. Nutty and spicy, very delicate on the nose. Then smooth and mellow on the palate, as it should be for a 40 Year Old. Wonderful finish, with layers of aromas and a fine, long aftertaste. Great wine. 96

Andrew Jefford:Deeply hued but clear and bright. Very herbal now, lavender and rue, with a little sweetening behind. Long and sustained on the palate, though now beginning to dry out, and I suspect that it must be at its apogee. Bright, intense, deep, almost elemental, all still there, but the fruit flesh is beginning to drop away now, and the wine doesn’t have other resources that might step into the gap. Harmonious and concentrated old Tawny at its peak. 90

Richard Mayson:Lovely bright amber hue; lifted, toasted verging on high-toned but showing mature restraint on the nose; still remarkably fresh on the palate, with dried apricot flavors and a lovely explosion of freshness mid-palate and on the finish. Quite dry, finely poised—a lovely old wine to sip and savor. 96
