Simon Field: Raw and rather aggressive on the nose - engine oil and prunes. The palate does not contradict these first impressions; youth may explain rather than excuse the experience, but one is disinclined to attend a reformation of m aturity that may well be illusory. 12
Andrew Jefford: Dark black-purple; good glycerol. Slightly withdrawn, austere, aromatic profile at this stage. Sweet, textured and tannin-clad, with a core of very sound blackcurrant, and impressively tight-knit and close-grained. It is going through a slightly withdrawn stage just now. Not hugely flamboyant, but it seems to me that the raw materials are impressive. Perhaps slightly more careful winery work would have produced an outstanding Vintage Port. 16.5
Richard Mayson: Very deep opaque colour, thin crimson rim. Totally closed up. Big, rich and fleshy on the palate, with fine, firm, broad tannins and a meaty finish. Very good. Drink 2018-2030 plus. 16.5
