Andrew Jefford: Dark and promising. There's lots of black in there... Very good, quite fatty, but complex, with excellent levels of super-ripe black fruit and a moist-coal earthiness, too. Lush, rich, flamboyant, and not actually hugely dense but plenty of pleasure for the mid-term. Lovely qualities of blackberry and blueberry fruit here. 17
Simon Field: Agreeable, well-developed colour. Nose of forest floor and raisins, and a palate that is conspicuously tannic and peppery, but with an admirable backdrop of fruit. Structurally well balanced and long, a pleasing and spicy wine that does full credit to its vintage. 17
Richard Mayson: Very good deep dark colour, thin purple rim. Spicy but slightly stewed nose, with peppery fruit. Medium-rich spicy chocolate fruit, still very youthful but with a green-pepper piquancy unusual in Port and a rather short finish. Drink now to 2020.12
