Simon Field: Monolithic and quite severe on the nose - figs, wet earth and kirsch. The palate is a serious affair, the sweetness toasting the ripeness of the vintage, the structure underlining intent with sanguine efficacy. A powerhouse that will not disappoint over the long term. 18.5
Andrew Jefford: Mid-depth of red-black colour. A slightly dry and dusty scent, but the basic profile of gently fragrant blackcurrant is spot on; perhaps a reserved stage in its evolution. Dense, full, lots of blackcurrant depth, rounded, resonant. Excellent backing tannins, tightly constituted and powerful, but not quite the drive and freshness at this stage to suggest truly great Vintage Port. 16.5
Richard Mayson: A very deep opaque centre and thin crimson-purple rim. Still closed but tight on the nose. Fine, tight, spicy fruit on the palate - mid-weight, with attractive spicy-peppery flavours. Drink 2008-2025 plus. 15
