BUY THE WINE

Simon Field: Tawny colouring and even a nose that is redolent of a wine that has had longer in cask - walnuts and cocoa, spice and hints of sous-bois. On the palate, this is an elegant wine, middleweight in the best possible sense, everything nicely integrated, with a little fire in its gut to confirm status and a silky, almost ethereal texture that is extremely attractive. 17

Andrew Jefford: Quite clear now; not much density left. Some bottle-stink despite the decanting. Light and lingering, but hurry along please if you have bottles of this in your cellar, and enjoy the herby fruit while there’s still time. 13

Richard Mayson: Mid-plus brick-red centre with a broad tawny rim. Rather burnt and sweaty on the nose. Stewed fruit. Better on the palate but lacks a core. Some spicy tannin rising on to the finish but otherwise quite short. The fruit is drying out. Hollow. 12.5
