Simon Larkin : Deep, certainly opaque. Clearly oak-influenced, this example exhibits deep cherry aromatics and a similar palate to boot. Drying tannins distort the palate, and render current appreciation problematic. This makes me wonder where it is headed, but probably one for the medium term rather than beyond. 14.5 I

Nicolas Belfrage: Curiously, the 1996 is more plummy and ripe than the 1997. The two share an international style mixed in with authentic Nebbiolo-not entirely convincing. Lacks length and unmistakable character. 14
