Nicolas Belfrage: Shockingly deep color, surely too deep for pure Sangiovese. Larger-than-life cherry fruit, firm tannin, and fair acidity, quite a lot of vanilla/toast of oak, creamy and powerful, concentrated. Drink 2012 to 2020. Very good wine, but don’t put it in a blind tasting for Brunello. 14.5

Roy Richards Cushy, high-toast nose. This is a class act, rather too polished and international for my taste, but one cannot criticize the winemaking. Good of its kind. 16

Franco Ziliani: Inky, concentrated Merlot-style dark color (new Sangiovese clones?). Dense, overripe, with oaky, coffee, and chocolate notes. Very round, soft, fleshy on the palate is rich, with oak, not like a Sangiovese from Montalcino. Modern style without future. 13.5
