Nicolas Belfrage: Deep, almost opaque. Somewhat inexpressive on the nose—not that there’s nothing there, only that it isn’t currently coming through strongly. Another wine of the chunky-ripe-fruity style, perhaps less well balanced, or less together, than others of its ilk. Drink from 2016. 15
Bruno Besa: Deep garnet to pink rim. Mature, layered, red-fruit nose, with hints of new oak and hints of cedar wood and mint. Medium to full body, clean and broad red fruit, a touch simple for a Brunello. Again, well made but lacking in typicity. 15
Andrew Jefford: Saturated black-red; another very deeply colored wine. Lots of oak on the nose, but there are beautiful red and black fruits shuttling and weaving beneath, too. Deep, vivid, dark, long, and vivacious on the palate; a real crowd-pleaser, with gorgeously ripe acidity sweeping and cleaning the palate once the sweet fruits have wrought their charm. 16
