BB | Ruby to garnet. Classic, tobacco and spice nose, with black and red fruits, orange peel, violets and dried rose petals. Medium-bodied, well-balanced, weightless palate, a touch simple on the finish, yet clean and inviting. 92
MP | Old-school, high-toned nose, leading with red fruit including redcurrant, cranberry, and pomegranate. The oak takes a welcome back seat to the fruit, although there is complexity from carefully judged notes of cinnamon, dark chocolate, and coffee. The star of the show is unquestionably the core of ripe Sangiovese that sweeps along convincingly unaided by modern vinification. The length is proof of the value in this approach and, supported by the abundant acidity, this will develop enticingly for many years. 95
AJ | Another very dark black-red wine. Warm, sweet, and richly spicy; lots of moist licorice and havana leaf. Plush, sticky red fruits. Real aromatic depth and resource here compared to some of the most cosmetically beguiling wines in this tasting. Lush, rich, vivid, composted. Lots in here but a bit stewy in style, without much fragrant lift. It would certainly warm a winter night, but I would tackle this rather brutally generous wine before too long, while it still seduces with amplitude. The composing elements are more coarse than in many of the other wines in our tasting. 87
