A UK bottling of this Noval by Fearon, Block, Bridges, and Routh. This is my 16th tasting of this fine Port, and the sixth bottle with Don Schliff and Christian Seely over the past 15 months. I am still amazed—every single time. At its core, a medium garnet optic, with an orange-amber rim. On occasion, it has appeared with much darker extraction. I remember a 2013 bottle where this Port was fully opaque and purple in color—but I digress. An evocative bouquet with all kinds of flowers, black- and red-berry scents, mocha, hazelnut, and fresh-date notes. Round, succulent, and medium-full-bodied, with ripe fig, prune, and black-cherry flavors up front, along with loads of fine tannins and acidity to keep it going for decades. Soft and ultimately approachable now, with plenty of staying power on the finish. Simply put, it is one of the greatest and most hedonistic VPs ever to be vinified and extremely rare nowadays. It was an absolute privilege to taste this living legend once again. | 95
