BUY THE WINE

Tim Atkin: Attractive garnet/brick red. Classic Sangiovese hues. Leafy, dried- herb aromas, with some rose petal and wild strawberry. Sweet, savory palate, with fairly firm, traditional tannins. Possibly a little dry, with marked alcohol, but the wine has good structure, achieved without overextraction. Perhaps it needs a little more fruit, but this is a brunello that will age for 5+ years. 16

Nicolas Belfrage: Medium-deep; correct. A little quiet on the nose, plum and prune, the latter predominating on the palate, a bit hot and shriveled, though plenty of slightly overripe fruit. currently correct and could turn out better than at present, though reminiscent of 2003. 15

Bruno Besa: Deep garnet to tawny rim. Refined, clean, spicy nose, with cedarwood, small red fruits; quite developed. Medium to full body, with exuberant tannins. Fairly long, but a touch unbalanced on the finish. 16
