Nicolas Belfrage: Deep, almost opaque. Faintly cherry, mainly neutral nose. Morello rather than sour cherry, confirmed on the palate, which dips at the back. Fat and full, without grace. 13
Stephen Brook: Lush blackberry nose, quite perfumed. Broad and rounded, quite forward—a very ripe style that is fortunately balanced by decent acidity. The tannins are very fine-grained, making this a classy and refined Brunello. Lofty and poised, well balanced and persistent. A wine of nobility and elegance. 18
Andrew Jefford: Clear black-red. Lots of warm red fruits, yet not much aromatic refinement lurking behind this simple appeal. Full, concentrated, softly textured and open despite the energy and lunge of the acidic profile, this is perfectly satisfactory Brunello with lots of concentration, depth, and poise. It does what the DOC promises. All that’s missing is the subtlety and refinement of the best. The finish is relatively hard and abrupt. 14.5
