BUY THE WINE

Tim Atkin: Dense, opaque purple/ruby. Rich but harmonious nose. Impressive. Quite oaky at the moment, but with old-vine concentration to balance it. Great acidity and palate length, with fine tannins and cherry and blackberry fruit. Essence of Argentina. A wine that will age for a decade or more. 17.5

Alex Hunt: This shows some complexity on the nose. There are floral and mineral notes amid the usual dark, ripe fruit. Structured and refined on the palate, quite grippy tannins, and a savory side already emerging. 15

Anthony Rose: Dense, vivid ruby hue, with pungent licorice, coconut, and cinnamon oak spice aromas. A suggestion of Portiness, and certainly very ripe on the palate, with plenty of blackberry-jam-like sweetness backed up by spicy oak characters, supple tannins, and fair balancing acidity, thus managing not to stray over the borderline of jamminess. 15.5
