Tim Atkin: Youthful, inky purple. Closed, faintly baked nose. Palate also a little dry and tannic, with a chewy note. May come around in time, but the fruit seems a little too raisiny to me. They could have saved a bit on their cooper’s bill, too. 12
Alex Hunt: Fresh summer-berry fruit and a licorice note—an attractive nose. Quite a bit of oak apparent on the palate and, partly as a result, a slightly flabby texture. Soft, smooth, and pleasant, but would it benefit from some more definition? 13
Anthony Rose: Vivid, dense ruby-purple hue and a powerful, vibrant nose of dark mulberry and plum fruitiness tinged with sweet, spicy oak and excellent, vibrant dark-berry-fruit concentration, with notes of dark cherry and loganberry. Nicely integrated vanillin and bitter-chocolaty oak on the palate, with a firm backbone of tannins and acidity. Impressive fruit quality and elegance behind this wine. 17.5
