BB | Ruby to garnet. Youthful, fruit-driven, ripe, black-cherry nose, with a complex, earthy character. Medium- to full-bodied, balanced with sweet fruit and a long, herbal, earthy finish. 93
MP | Pronounced nose of red and black fruit, both fresh and stewed. There's tinned strawberry and redcurrant alongside stewed plums, cooked cherries, and vanilla, cedar, and cinnamon from the oak. The palate leads with obvious vanilla, coconut, and smoke from the oak, and this occludes the more interesting aromatic components that struggle to make their presence felt. For fans of modern, beefy Brunello, this is your wine: Herculean quantities of tannin and plenty of jammy fruit. 94
AJ | Deep, clear red-black. Dry and warm, with notes that seem to suggest lemon zest and tapenade as well as red fruits. Concentrated and dramatic, but a little bit lurid in style. In fact, the acidity is marked, and the tannins are firm here, too. Lots of sweet plum-prune, even raisin and date, pace the vivid acidity. Quite a mouthful. Impressive, but I'm hoping a few more years bring some calm, mellow softness. It's a little bit indigestible at this stage. 87
