BB | Deep ruby to garnet. Ripe, rich black fruits and some new oak on the earthy, smoky, meaty nose. A touch overripe and muscular on the palate, with big, fine tannins and a long, clean finish. 92
MP | It's tempting to say that someone has entered a Bordeaux ringer into this flight: the nose is all cassis, cedar, and vanilla cream. The color suggests a Brunello, and the bad old days are far behind us, but this is, at the very least, atypical. There is clearly plenty of oak used in its production, and the tannins are consistent with the use of barriques, which may be swaying my judgement. On the palate there are notes of bell pepper, vanilla, and black fruit. It's an attractive wine but not what I had imagined. 91
AJ | Dark black-red; clear, but only just. Lots of overt sweet wood here; a bit too much, in truth. A very sweet effect: confit cherry and raisins. Striking but rather unsubtle. Wood tannins dominate the finish, while the sweet fruits slip away relatively swiftly. I'm not sure this is really the way forward for Brunello, though it is certainly showy. 85
