Nicolas Belfrage: Deep, almost opaque, little turn. Characteristic nose of wild cherry and lanolin. Quite a mouthful of fruit, okay acidity and fairly smooth tannins. A big hit of ripe fruit on the finish, which lasts a good time. Drinking soon but will reward keeping. 88
Bruno Besa: Deep garnet to tawny rim. Tight, closed, spicy nose yet mature and complex, with black cherries and hints of chocolate and mint. Full body, mature black-fruit palate. Moderate length. 88
Andrew Jefford: Deep, clear red-black. Dark, close-grained scents of warm red fruits, ruffled earth and leaves and bonfire smoke drifting across from a distant hill. Complex, engaging, and enticing. Soft, supple, and open, not in any way forbidding, but there is so much to enjoy in here: dark black fruits teased to perfect ripeness, the leafy, twiggy, underbrush complexities that are Brunello’s birthright, and ample structuring tannins, too. An excellent 2011 Brunello. 90
