Nicolas Belfrage: Deep, virtually opaque. Intense brambly/ small-berry fruit on the nose, with hints of wax. Very modern-style (but attractive as such) wine of deep concentration, firm tannin, and adequate acidity, combined with rich sweet chocolaty fruit. Wouldn’t work in every vintage but a good one for 2011. Drink from 2018 for at least ten years. 94
Bruno Besa: Deep garnet to pink. Closed, menthol-like nose, some fruit but slightly medicinal. Balanced palate with clean fruit. A wine to taste at a different stage of its development; not much coming out of the glass this morning. 86
Andrew Jefford: Deep black-red. Ripe, full, generous, almost pruney, with lots of sweet warmth here, and almost a citrus-grove exoticism. On the palate, this is a ripe, initially succulent, concentrated Brunello with a sweet fruit style. It’s been very enthusiastically extracted, though, and some may find the generous tannins a little bit of a challenge. Probably best after a year or two’s calming in the cellar. If you don’t like the austerity and asperity of some of the classical styles, this is a very serious and successful wine that is worth a look. 85
