Nicolas Belfrage: Some evolution on the rim. Sweet, evolved notes on the nose as well. Traditional style, with complex, expanding, concentrated fruit leading to a nicely structured, ripe tannin. A complex wine of intensely Montalcino character. Drink now for several years. 94
Bruno Besa: Pale garnet to tawny. Elegant, complex prune and tobacco nose, with intense minerality, iron shavings, cedar wood, and dried roses. Medium body, wonderfully sweet and layered fruit, refined tannins with orange peel and a wild strawberry finish. Another classy Sangiovese maybe lacking only a bit of muscle. 94
Andrew Jefford: Clear, deep black-red. Purposeful red fruits here, full of energy and warmth. Bright, sunny aromas. On the palate, this is an amply structured, very sweet-fruited wine with plenty of confit cherry and a cloak of generous tannins: a rich and toothsome mouthful that will last well. 89
