Simon Field | Dense matted color. Nose seems at first a little oxidative. Savory, plush; cèpes, mushrooms, and slightly overripe fruit. Then the tannins kick in, a tad aggressively. The fruit character is dominated by bosky loganberry, myrtle, and a whisper of cherry. Forward and well upholstered, but one cannot be sure about the long-term potential... Let’s revisit this one. | 89
Andrew Jefford | Amazing depth of color here: black to the rim, or very nearly. Fresh, vibrant, elegant, and lively, with lots of holly leaf, ivy, and box zest to carry the beautifully defined black fruits. A very exciting aroma. Vivid, mouth-filling, singing, and lyrical on the palate: a bouquet of fruit, which is to say fruit on which the freshness of flowers and leaves has been forcibly impressed. Terrific tannins, too. Absolutely masterful Vintage Port from a singular year in which freshness and zest inched ahead of ripeness, power, and force. | 95
Richard Mayson | Closed and still a bit raw on the nose, with underlying depth and intensity; lovely, broad, spicy flavors, structured, sinewy-spicy tannins, perhaps still a touch green and chaffy toward the finish. | 92
