Simon Field | Deep raven purple, only a modest rim by way of chromatographic extrapolation. Loganberry, bosky fruit, chalky grip, and no lack of potential, more than which it is hard to essay at the moment, but the precursors are positive... Real velvet layers caress the palate in a harem of sensual potential. | 91
Andrew Jefford | Saturated dense black-red to a purple rim. Another excitingly alluring 2019, with lots of fresh, lively fruits and vegetal notes meeting sweet fruits and a kind of fresh honeyed charm unusual in Vintage Port. Exciting, complex aromas. Vivid and fresh on the palate, too, with lovely textures and honeycomb flavors; fine tannins as well. Once again, everything is there except the central pulse of throbbing warmth, but given that the Zeitgeist favors freshness, perhaps this is “Port for our times.” Lovely and unique, anyway, and clearly several steps ahead of 2018. | 93
Richard Mayson | Still withdrawn, but with some ripe, floral, berry fruit underlying. Lovely, focused berry fruit withatouch of menthol, backed by firm tannins and with dark chocolate intensity mid-palate and onto the finish. All there. | 92
