Simon Field | Raven-black. Pleasing aromatic of garrigue, crushed raspberry, fig, and pine, resinous and ripe. The palate is sweet and elegant, wild strawberry and compote, an indulgent creamy character, pleasing sweetness; approachable and elegant. This is already very poised and complete. | 90
Andrew Jefford | Saturated dense black-red out to a purple rim. Powerful, peppery, mint and menthol fruits on the nose, with lots of lift and allure: hugely exciting aromas. There’s a savory fatness, too, to the aromatics of this Port. On the palate, it is rich and sweet to a baroque extent, with fine tannins but pretty much zero freshness and poise. The tannins will carry the wine and correct the sweetness to some degree, and it will last well, but others among its peers may enchant to a greater degree thanks to their different balances. Wonderful textures here for all that. | 92
Richard Mayson | Ripe but sullen and still a bit blunt on the nose; some underlying intensity. Mid-weight, soft, and slightly rustic on the palate. Some attractive berry fruit, but a bit disjointed and underwhelming on the finish. Loose-knit and not quite all there in this context. | 85
