Simon Field: Bruised fruit and very firm tannins; deep tar color, onyx, pure and simple. The aromatics are youthful, the sweetness and burn of the spirit persuasive yet not unexpected in one so young. Finely structured, long, and eloquent; one to revisit in 15 years for those wise souls ready to wait. | 88
Andrew Jefford: Saturatedly dark black-purple colors. Warm, rich, earthy, savory: an enticing stew of black fruits, lifted and fresh, beefy and warm, too. This has less aromatic fruit precision and finesse than some of its peers, but it’s hugely exuberant and enticing. Deep, dark, dense, searching, and penetrating, with wonderful width and breadth to it; the fruits are voluptuous and rich; the tannins are fine-grained yet profuse, and ballast the sweet fruits perfectly. A hugely impressive, hugely assured Port: creamy, long, and head- turning. Bravo. | 94
Richard Mayson: Deep, opaque, spirit showing through the stalky fruit on the nose, but with some weight underlying. Ripe and fleshy initially, with good, firm, powerful tannins building in the mouth and onto the finish. Still quite raw, but it should come together in time. | 88
