Bruno Besa | Garnet to tawny. Developed leather-and- tobacco nose, with some small red fruits and spices. Medium-bodied palate, with layered fruit and a fairly long finish. Classic Brunello, yet a touch overdeveloped, so for short-term cellaring. | 91
Andrew Jefford | Clear and light, with the tile cast that suggests maturity. Refined, secondary, and fully mature aromas—but these are very resonant and enticing, suggesting that this communicative aromatic nature is the consequence of thoughtful cellar work. There’s certainly nothing that suggests senescence here. An attractive aromatic profile: Old Master-like warmth and teasing allusiveness. On the palate, it is both bright and tender. It’s open and expressive, relatively soft and smooth, but the flavors are very classy, pure, long, and refined. Supremely drinkable now, and not for keeping, but top notch. | 92
Michael Palij | This wine shows a complex and elegant nose, with ripe red fruit including strawberry, passion fruit, cranberry, and oak-derived aromas of vanilla, sandalwood, and clove. The palate shows a delicious blend of red apple, plum, graphite, cedar, baked plum, and warming autumn spices, together with structured, ripe tannins and a lovely streak of acidity. A fabulous example of what can be done in challenging conditions. | 96
